Experience the peak of mid-eighties Grateful Dead magic with the definitive 4LP vinyl box set release of Merriweather 6/30/85 (Live). Captured during their historic "Twenty Years So Far" anniversary tour, this legendary performance at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, is widely celebrated as one of the absolute finest standalone shows of the entire era
Spanning across four heavyweight 33 RPM LPs, this complete, previously unreleased concert has been carefully archived and produced for release by longtime Grateful Dead Archivist David Lemieux. Sourced directly from the original Sony F1 master tapes recorded by the band's longtime sound engineer, Dan Healy, the audio has undergone a meticulous all-analog transfer and mastering process by Grammy Award-winning engineer David Glasser at Airshow Mastering. The resulting soundstage is remarkably vibrant, spacious, and true to the rich tapestries of the room acoustics.
Musically, the night is defined by an absolute masterclass of continuous improvisational energy. The centerpiece of the setlist is a sprawling, jaw-dropping second-set opening performance of "Shakedown Street"—a version widely considered by Dead Heads to be one of the single greatest live performances of any song in the band's entire history. Paired with a massive, mind-bending sequence featuring "He's Gone," a rare return to "Cryptical Envelopment," and a roaring "Sugar Magnolia" finale, this premium box set is an essential addition to any serious live rock library.
